Bones

Equal parts paganism, glen brancaism and doom: the ex-rhythm section from the liars and some other guy with an innocent voice form to creep us all out...and it all kinda sounds like trench era liars (but with all of the sounds and textures and heavy vibes from drowned era liars). Watch out for the minimal Blixa Bargeld guitar part bursting into a howling wolf head in the chorus and the brilliant/dire/brilliant lyrics. I recommend wearing a headdress, getting naked and dancing around a fire with some friends while playing this. Anyways, enough from me..i just really dig this.

No Things - Coward

): O (|)  <--Mile Davis was an old black man who once met the stooges, smoked lots of crack and tootled on a trumpet. Oh, he also made the most mindfucked music ever (because it was real , Maaaan). This 1974 track is the sound of a man turning his back on jazz to face the boiling vats of children and bat creatures he often saw in his mind. Note that throughout this track Miles was pretty much just standing in the middle of the stage death staring his band and occasionally assaulting a keyboard, which is rad. I guess liking this means i like jazz. At the school i went to as a kid the music room had a giant sparkling sign above the door that read "JAZZ" and my music teacher informed us that he didn't like "black" rap but he liked eminem because he "is a true poet". Next time i see that music teacher i am going to cease headbanging, turn down the cannibal corpse cassette, jump out of my black van and beat him while waving my permed hair around.

Miles Davis - Moja Pt.1

If you are not into Big Black, then you are mos def missing out. Steve Albini and his crew (including Roland, the drum machine) made acidic guitar noize that would make Odin cry. To get his particular guitar tone it is rumored Albini fashioned his guitar picks out of sheet metal. The lyrical content of their songs was often ironic (?) and inflammatory sexual politics and homophobia and you could never be sure if they were a product of Albini's desire to "piss off hipsters" or were his views (he is said to be a massive asshole). But ultimately what made Big Black such a great band was the fact that they were really catchy and in the center of all of the feedback and misanthropy were genius song structures. This song begins with a primal drummachine beat worthy of instant losing your mind and dancing like a dork-ness and then moves into a thumpy distorted bass line and some guitar that could strip the flesh off your arms. What a useless set of legs indeed.

Big Black - I'm a mess
